About the publisher Militaria

The international publisher for military AND WAR history

Since it was founded by Stefan Rest in 2002, the publishing house has been dedicated to comprehensively addressing military history topics. “Our” history begins in the 18th century and extends to the present day. In short, this is the data collection form of the Militaria publishing house, which has been supplying experts and anyone interested with high-quality books and illustrated books on war and military history from its headquarters in Vienna since 2002. Militaria deliberately excludes the Nazi era – that is not our business. You can currently find around 80 works in the webshop – on topics such as: “Uniforming and Equipment“, “< a href=”http://shop.militaria.at/product-category/orden-ehrenzeichen-abzeichen/”>Orders, decorations and badges”, “Weapons and military technology“, “Military history and war literature” as well as extensive “Reference works and directories“. The publisher’s works enjoy great international reputation. They are available in German and English and sometimes also in other languages.

The Militaria publishing house deliberately excludes the National Socialist era. A focus of the publishing program is the First World War. But groundbreaking works have also been published on the Seven Years’ War, the Napoleonic era and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71, as well as monographs and biographies on rulers and generals. A particular goal of the publisher for the coming years is to cover all major armies of the First World War in the form of individual standard works.

WAR HISTORY DOCUMENTED IN DETAIL

In the Militaria publishing house’s webshop you will find around 80 high-quality books and illustrated books on various topics in war history. A particular focus of our program is the First World War, the “primal catastrophe of the 20th century”. Standard works that have already been published: The German Army, The k.u.k. Army, The French Army, The Belgian Army in the First World War, etc. However, our well-known authors also understand other eras from the 18th century to the present – with one exception: the period of the “Third Reich” and the Second World War counts not part of our repertoire, as numerous other publishers have specialized in this. We work with hand-picked state museums and private collections.

Detailed photographs, contemporary black and white images

Historians and private collectors value both the technically sound historical information and the detailed, color photographs of historical objects. A special feature of the illustrated books are the contemporary black and white photos. Committed to attention to detail and historically accurate systematics, our works are valued by specialists and enthusiasts alike. History comes to life here: numerous film studios, theaters and festival halls rely on the publisher’s books to equip their productions.
